Bringing protagonists and antagonists together
1. protagonists
Inventor and developer of an innovation
2. Open minds
Find an innovation good when »it is ready«.
3. Close minds
Almost only see negative consequences in the new, »nobody needs something like that«
4. antagonists
Fight the new actively and fundamentally: »Insecure! Dangerous! Immoral!".
Innovation and new technologies always meet the same players.
It is advisable to take a close look at when and how these players meet. If the antagonists are involved too early, even grandiose ideas will fail because of the misgivings of the doubters. If the innovation hits them too late, it is likely that the idea does not correspond sufficiently to reality.
Protagonists, innovators and media always react in the same way.
Gartner's hype curve
Antagonists also react predictably to the new.
Gunter Dueck: Hype versus hubris
Understanding the players and comparing reaction patterns can be achieved more easily in a professional context than it first appears (see GRP).
